Police in Missouri found a 10-year-old boy dead Thursday, after he reportedly left his Kansas City home while sleepwalking.
According to Kansas City Police Department in Missouri, authorities found Jackson S. Georgari “unresponsive in a pond near the Briarcliff Village on North Mulberry,” around a mile and half from his residence.
“Fire and rescue personnel immediately began resuscitation efforts but unfortunately he was declared deceased there at that location,” police stated.
As Criminal Enterprise reported, Jackson was last at around midnight Wednesday, in the 1100 block of Northwest Vivion Road.
Although he had no known medical conditions, family members told police that he sleepwalks, KMBC News reports.
“The first time it happened was when we were in San Diego, and he (sleepwalked) and then someone found him on the street and they called 911,” Jackson’s sister, Semina Richard, told KMBC News. “They brought him over and he was found safely.”
“The second time, it was here. … We recently moved here from San Diego to Missouri. And he ran away again, and he went, like, all the way up there where his school is at because that’s the only place he recognizes.”
KCPD stated that so far, there is no indication of foul play. A medical examiner will determine Jackson’s cause and manner of death.
