A drunk landscaper took an exavator to the back side of his family’s Pennsylvania home early Tuesday morning when his wife told him she was “done” and wanted a divorce.

Erik Pierswza had been out drinking all night when he got home Tuesday morning and promptly got into an argument with his wife, who said that they had already been in the process of separating, WPXI reports.

“If it’s over, I’ll tear the house down,” Pierswza reportedly shouted before going outside and getting into the excavator. He used it to smash the back wall before fleeing in another vehicle.

“His wife and two children were in the home when he started demolishing the home,” Buffalo Township Police Chief Timothy Derringer said.

“You never know what people are thinking today,” said Derringer. “It is an unfortunate incident, I will say for all involved and hopefully it is an isolated incident and there are no other incidents in the future.”

“Hopefully” because Pierswza was released on a $10,000 bond after his brief arrest.

Police said when they arrived, the suspect had already fled. They contacted him by phone, and he eventually surrendered, Derringer said.

Court documents say the wife had planned to file a protection from abuse order against her husband. She and the two children got out of the house during her husband’s rampage and were not hurt in this incident.

According to WTAE, Pierswza was charged with recklessly endangering another person, creating a catastrophe, and disorderly conduct.
