AMBER Alert: 15-year-old Texas teen and toddler son missing over a month

Escarleth Vasquez

Police issued an AMBER Alert Monday night, in connection with the disappearance of Texas teen Escarleth Vasquez and her young son, who have not been seen in over a month.

As Criminal Enterprise reported, 15-year-old Escarleth was last heard from at about 1 p.m. on May 9. She left her home in the 7000 block of Phoenix Path in San Antonio’s Northeast Side and never returned.

Her 1-year-old son, Alejandro Vasquez, is said to be with her.

During a Tuesday morning press conference, Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar stated that although they don’t know where the pair is, there is speculation of a possibly being with a boyfriend.

Salazar added that the child’s father is currently incarcerated.

According to NBC 4, Escarleth, who is undocumented and from Honduras, had been living in foster care when she vanished. She left a note behind claiming she was going back to her home country, requesting for no one to alert police and to send her belongings to Honduras.

She could possibly be in a red pickup truck, but the sheriff’s office did not provide a make, model, or license plate information.

Salazar added that, at first, officials did not have enough information to issue an AMBER Alert.

“When we initially had the case, it did not meet the criteria for an AMBER Alert. There wasn’t enough information to establish one,” he said.

“My understanding is that CPS, because she is a ward of the state, continued its investigation and was able to develop enough information to cross that threshold and qualify for an AMBER Alert. Once that happened, the alert was issued, but we’re still the managing agency on the case.”

Escarleth is described as standing 5 feet, 2 inches tall and weighing around 180 pounds. She has brown hair, brown eyes, and was last seen in a black hooded sweatshirt and gray pants.

Alejandro is described as standing 2 feet, 10 inches tall and weighing around 27 pounds. He has brown hair, brown eyes and was last seen wearing all black clothing.
