A missing 16-year-old North Carolina teen and a 28-year-old year man have been charged with triple murder, following the deaths of three people.
Buncombe County officials said during a Friday press conference that the teen, Star Grant, and Devan Loving have been charged with three counts of first-degree murder and one count of conspiracy to commit murder.
The incident happened Thursday night in Fairview, North Carolina, at a home on Ashworth Drive. During a welfare check at around 7:15 p.m., authorities found the victims in the residence, with fatal gunshot wounds.
They have been identified as:
- Travis Eugene Grant, 41
- Kimberly Michelle Grant, 42
- Sharon Hardwood Grant, 66
Along with the victims, Grant lived at the home and had been reported missing earlier in the week. ABC 33 reports that Travis and Kimberly Grant were Grant’s parents, and Sharon Grant was her grandmother.
On Friday, Gatlinburg police, along with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI), arrested Grant and Loving at a Ownby Street hotel in Gatlinburg, Tennessee.
The defendants are scheduled for hearing in Tennessee, before extradition back to North Carolina.
Officials said if convicted, they could face the death penalty. Grant will be charged as an adult.
