Officials in North Dakota a 12-year-old boy, missing since March, has been found deceased.

According to Turtle Mountain Tribal Chairman Jamie Azure, 12-year-old Abrium Swain fled a child welfare center on the Turtle Mountain Reservation on March 15. He returned to center briefly, then fled again that same day.

Abrium had been staying at the center at the time of his disappearance, KFYR TV reports. His father is currently incarcerated and his mother passed away years ago.

The FBI stated that his body was found in a field in Dunseith

At this time, it is believed that environmental exposure caused his death. Foul play is not suspected, but the FBI is currently leading the investigation.

“Abrium was a bright and caring child who brought joy to those around him,” a GoFund page set up by a cousin stated.

“He loved spending time with his sister and always found ways to make people smile.”

Meanwhile, Azure said that a candlelight vigil is scheduled for Thursday at Belcourt’s Tribal Welfare Building, starting at 7:30 p.m., Valley News Live reports.
