The murder trial of accused Georgia killer Sarah Grace Patrick has been continued.
Jury selection was scheduled to begin Monday morning in Carroll County, but both the state and defense agreed to the continuance, Atlanta’s 11Alive News reports.
As Criminal Enterprise reported, Patrick, now 18, was 16 when allegedly shot and killed her mother Kristin Brock, 41, and stepfather, James Brock, 45 inside their Carrollton residence in February 2025.
Patrick’s 5-year-old sister found the couple unresponsive in their bedroom, while Patrick called 911.
She’s currently facing charges that include:
- Malice murder
- Felony murder
- Aggravated assault
Patrick’s attorney, Shawn Hoover, argued that there had been problems Department of Family and Children’s Services (DFCS) records and forensics evidence, which had started as minor but “snowballed into something bigger.”
Hoover previously argued that records from DFCS showed a pattern of domestic violence and prescription drug abuse at the household.
He also referenced issues with a “rogue cop” testing a firearm found at a pawn shop on a “hunch.” The gun turned out to be unrelated to the case and the murder weapon has yet to be recovered.
“More needs to be done so I can adequately protect Ms. Patrick’s interests moving forward,” he said.
The prosecution previously stated that defense has all access to DFCS records, and that any additional evidence gathered will be provided to the defense within 10 days before the trial starts.
Officials stated that a new trial date will soon be scheduled.
Patrick remains behind bars without bail. Check back for updates.
