A former Minnesota state trooper who admitted sexually abusing a female infant, recording the attacks and sharing the videos with someone he met online has been sentenced to 27 years in federal prison.
Jeremy Francis Plonski, 30, of Shakopee, was sentenced Tuesday by U.S. District Judge Kate M. Menendez to 324 months in prison, followed by 15 years of supervised release.
Plonski pleaded guilty in October 2025 to producing and distributing child pornography after admitting he created 23 videos depicting the sexual abuse of a young girl over a seven-month period in 2023. In some of the videos, Plonski wore his Minnesota State Patrol uniform and held a firearm.
According to court records, the investigation began after FBI agents in Houston conducting a forensic analysis in a child sexual abuse material investigation identified Plonski as a suspect.
Investigators discovered videos showing Plonski sexually assaulting the infant. Both Plonski’s and the child’s faces were clearly visible in at least one video filmed at his Shakopee home, according to a state criminal complaint.
“No badge, no title and no position will ever place anyone above the law,” Minnesota State Patrol Col. Christina Bogojevic said following the case. “Protecting the vulnerable is our duty. Anyone who violates that duty has no place in this organization or in our profession.”
Plonski also faced a first-degree criminal sexual conduct charge in Scott County involving the same victim. County prosecutors previously said they would review the state case following his federal guilty plea.
The federal investigation was conducted by the FBI and Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension with assistance from the Minnesota State Patrol.
The case was prosecuted by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Minnesota as part of Project Safe Childhood, a Justice Department initiative targeting child exploitation.
