Missing 5-year-old Nevada girl found safe

UPDATE 

A 5-year-old Nevada girl, allegedly abducted Monday morning by her father, has been found safe in in Los Angeles County.

According to he Carson City Sheriff’s Office, in the care of Palmdale Child Protective Services, which will help facilitate the child’s return to her mother.”

The suspect, Christopher Meithof, is currently in custody.

Initial Coverage

Police in Nevada issued an AMBER Alert Monday for a 5-year-old girl last seen in Carson City.

According to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, Christopher Meithof is accused of taking Amaya Meithof at around 4:30 a.m. Monday morning from a residence at 2021 Lone Mountain #15.


The alert stated that the pair possibly headed toward Quartz Hill. Police stated that Christopher Meithof is known to drive a 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee with Oregon license plate

Amaya is required to take medication for allergies. There is concerns for her safety and well-being.

Christopher Meithof, who currently lives in Federal Way, Washington, has a criminal record with convictions that include:

  • Rape
  • Burglary
  • Unauthorized use of a vehicle
  • Assault
